Here be some photies from the recent Arsenal vs Wigan game in the Carling Cup at the Emirates Stadium in North London. My friend at work, Ash, is a big Arsenal fan, bless him. We were in the cheap seats (£10 to watch two Premiership teams? Damn that’s cheap!) and I wasn’t expecting to get great views, but the lower angle gave me something different, and I was a lot closer to the players than usual, which allowed the shot of perenial sick note Chris Kirkland leathering the ball from a goal kick.
These were all shot with the Nikon D90, which I’ve been giving a good run for it’s money in the last month. The ISO 1600 mode held up pretty well under these conditions, though having said that I lost a lot of shots because it still wasn’t fast enough to stop motion blur most of the time.
The shot of Chris Kirkland has been edited using a fake tilt-shift technique. A video tutorial of how to create a fake tilt shift effect is available here.
